The Letson 7 shots at 300m, 500 and 600y, is traditionally the first part of the qualifying stage for the Governor General's. There was only one 105 scored today, no surprise that this came from Alain Marion with 105.15. There were 11 scores of 104, headed by Peter Church, 104.14, and Paul Tremblay, 104.12. Marius de Champlain took the F Class with 122, from Matthew Wolf, 121, and Dave Rumbold, 119.

The 900 metre Alexander of Tunis was fired in the afternoon. The only 50 was scored by Geoff Woodman with 50.4. Gary Bendik and Bruce Bullock had 49.4 and 49.2 respectively. Marius de Champlain won the F Class with 56, from Dave Rumbold, 54, and Matthew Wolf, 53.

The daily aggregate, the Jack Gorrie, was won with a score of 153.13 (ex 155) by Bruce Bullock. Alain Marion and Ken Westling had 152.17 and 152.10. There were no surprises in the F Class: Marius de Champlain 178, Dave Rumbold 173 and Matthew Wolf 173.

Normally I would give you the leaders in the Grand Aggregate to date. However, since some scores have been entered for Monday's matches, while others have still to complete these (on Wednesday), the totals are incomplete. More may be revealed tomorrow evening.

In the Commonwealth Games Trial, the latest standings are: Jim Paton 1119.108, Pat Vamplew 1117.118, Des Vamplew 1116.122, Bruce Bullock 1113.118, Paul Tremblay 1113.110, Stan Frost 1108.098.

The Cofffeee Confrontation: Thompson 5 - Brown 4.

I've left the weather until last. After yesterday's violence, it was a cool, mostly sunny day, with a brisk wind from the front. The latter switched quickly from side to side, which probably accounts for the relatively low scoring. I know I was not equal to its challenge.

Very fine BBQ salmon tonight, with Chilean Pinot Noir. I might say that because of the storm yesterday evening, we had to repair to Lapointe's, the famous local fish emporium. IMHO, the meals cooked at our Connaught Bivouac are much superior, in both content and service!!
