Today might best be called Day Zero for the Canadian Championships.
Apart from two Cadet International matches, the CanLoan and the Rex Goddard, for which I do not yet have results, there is no shooting. This allows the ranges to be set in order, targets to be put in place and a lot of other details to be sorted out. This short interlude is much needed by the long suffering range rigging and quatermaster crews.
It would have been an almost perfect day for shooting - mostly sunny, a fairly light breeze down the range, with flicks to left and right, and not excessively hot.
Tomorrow (Friday) more serious things get underway, with the Sierra ISSF 300 metre Championship, the first parts of the 223/556 Championship and the Long Range Challenge, and the Ottawa Regiment.
The forecast for the morning is good, but there is a chance of showers or thunderstorm in the afternoon. I might add that seldom have I seen Connaught looking so green in mid-August.
