This will be Part One of today's report, written soon after noon. the story of the afternoon will continue later.
With the firing of the Gatineau, the Macdonald Stewart Grand Aggregate is completed. The winner for 2008 is Roger Romses with a score of 820.82 (ex 830).Emil Praslick III was second with 816.94, and Scott Murray third with 814.81. In the F Class, Marius de Champlain scored a convincing victory with 972 (ex 996 - only 24 times outside the vee in 166 shots!), 25 points ahead of Dave Rumbold. The Farquharson Trophy for the top F(F) shooter goes to Matthew Wolf.
The Walter Stewart Memorial Prize for the top Under 25 Canadian in the Grand was won by Alex Ferguson, a staff officer with the Connaught Cadets.
Winner of the Tess Spencer Trophy for the top lady in the Grand was Laurie Hearn with 804.85.
In the Gatineau itself, Emil Praslick won the TR with 75.11, from Des Vamplew 75.10 and David Gardiner, Australia, 75.9. There is a tie in the F Class between Marius de Champlain and Matthew Wolf, with scores of 89.
The Gatineau also polishs off a large number of other aggregates with a long range component.
The Gzowski (800 and 900 metres): Gary Bendik 220.16; F Class Marius de Champlain 259.
The Polar Bear (mix of 500y - 900m): Roger Romses 586.52; F Class Marius de Champlain 693.
The Lt. General Milroy Memorial (better scores at 300, 500, 600, 800 and 900): Shannon Carleton 250/30; F Class Marius de Champlain 298.
The M.F.C. Walker aggregate (Overseas Teams Fund Long Range): Gary Bendik 124.12; F Class Marius de Champlain 145.
In the Commonwealth Games Trial, with now 450 points to go, the top four places are occupied by: Pat Vamplew 1490.158, Jim Paton 1489.149, Des Vamplew 1488.174 and Paul Tremblay 1485.158.
There are several tie-shoots to be fired immediately after the lunch-time break. Then the main business for the afternoon will be the Commonwealth and Under 25 International Long Range Matches.
In the evening there will be the Macdonald Stewart Dinner.
