Thu 25 Aug 2005
I started off the composing of last night's report with the line : "First of all, my apologies to all my loyal audience around the world for any incoherence in this report. It's now midnight, our time, and I've just returned from an excellent dinner with the Captain of the Scottish Team and some other rogues. No more details will be revealed, unless someone wants to contact me personally." Well, at about 1:30 a.m., I gave up what was by then an impossible struggle - alternately falling asleep and typing gibberish. So, in a marginally better state this morning, I'm writing my notes just as the Gatineau (15 at 900 metres) is getting underway.
The Gatineau will conclude the Macdonald Stewart Grand Aggregate. Going into this last range, the leader is James Paton, White Rocks, BC, 749.78, from Paul Tremblay, Charlesbourg, QC, 747.76, Des Vamplew, Scarborough, ON, 744.91 and Emil Praslick III, Columbus, GA. In the F Class, Jim Murphy, Owensbord, KY, has 885, John Brewer, Canton, MS, 881, and Dave Rumbold, Ottawa, ON, 880.
For nearly all the shooting yesterday, there was a cloudless sky, with a fickle little wind, and somewhat warmer temperatures than we have enjoyed in the last couple of days.
The primary match completed was the Gibson, named in memory of several generations of the Gibson family who have very ably led the DCRA. The winner of the match was Geoff Woodman, New Harbour, NF, with 150.20 (HPS 150.30). There were several other scores of 150: Paul Tremblay, Charlesbourg, QC, Richard Jeens, Wales, Linda Miller, Burnt River, Ont, Audrey Gagne, RCAC STAFF, and Scott Murray, Arnprior, Ont. The Gibson was the last event at the 'shorter' ranges, which thus conclude several aggregates.
So many of these latter exist. that I cannot give you all details here. The DCRA web site has the details. But, here are a few of the major winners:
The Short Range Aggregate (300 metre events - HPS 235): Emil Praslick III, 235.31; F Class (HPS 282) Jim Murphy, 281.
The Maple Leaf Aggregate (500 and 600 yards - HPS 370): James Paton, 369.39; F Class (HPS 444) Paul Crosbie, Scotland, 434.
The All Comers Aggregate (300 metres, 500 and 600 yards - HPS 605): James paton 603.66; F Class Jim Murphy 713.
For those not in the team matches, there was the Street, which follows the Palma course of fire (15 at 700, 800 and 900 metres - HPS 225): 1. Faisal Rahman, Scarborough, ON, 221.22, 2. Brian Slink, Baldwinville, NY, 220.20, 3. Mitchell Maxberry, Wellington, New Zealand, 219.23; F Class (HPS 270): 1. Emil Praslick, Brewster, NY, 261, 2. Paul Crosbie 259, 3.
