Sat 26 Aug 2006
David Calvert, GBRT, won the Governor General's prize at the 124th CFRC this afternoon. David had 300.42/300.60, with the next 8 competitors a point behind. Scoring was very high in the fairly benign conditions. There was a light to moderate breeze from the right, which varied in angle, but the changes were neither too large or too swift for shooters to cope with. Vanessa Warner became the fist lady to win the F Class Final with 353/360.
Once more the weather was excellent all day, for the firing of the Canada Match in the morning and the Final in the afternoon. GB won the Canada, the team of 8 shooters dropping only 5 points over 3 ranges. Canda won the Under-25 Short Range Match
Also fired was the Perry indivisdual match, won by William Lair, Lacrescent, Minnesota, with 335.24; F Class winner was Wolfgang Scholze 266/270.
The final two ranges of the Govenror General's have now be styled at the patron's Match, which should to be separately fired event. David Calvert won this with 150.20; and Jon Cowee the F Class with 176/180.
Many other aggregates were decided by these last two ranges, far too numerous to metion all of them here. Details are on the DCRA web site.
Tomorrow the America Match for TR and F Class Teams will be held. It look like four teams in each class. The weather forecast is not promising, but we must hope for the best!
